About Me
My career has been a series of narrowing focuses. At US Digital Partners I was a full stack generalist — marketing websites for CPGs and nonprofits, cross-platform mobile apps, customer-facing work. I went to sales calls, answered the phone, customers asked for me by name. At Wayfair, I went almost entirely backend — distributed systems, event-driven pipelines, no user interface. At Microsoft, I went deeper still into infrastructure: InfiniBand networking for supercomputers, further from anything a user ever sees directly.
I went to Berea College in Kentucky, which charges no tuition, requires all students to work, and was the first interracial college in the South. My original advisor chaired the Women & Gender Studies department, so I ended up taking a lot of courses on social issues alongside my CS coursework.
This site is where I write about .NET and backend topics. Mostly things I'm working on or thinking through. Opinions are my own.
